The studio is led by Dylan Radcliffe Brown. Prior to establishing Our Field, Dylan worked at 6a architects as a senior architect, and gained experience in Witherford Watson Mann, and Bernd Schmutz Architekten.
Our expertise is in the thorough reading of existing buildings and places, particularly in heritage contexts, and in transforming them toward contemporary, practical use.
We see buildings as complicit in the richness of everyday life, requiring sensitive and deliberate construction.
We offer a complete architectural service, managing the design from the initial brief through to on-site involvement and completion. Our services include:
- Developing design briefs
- Feasibility reports
- Concept/sketch design proposals
- Planning and listed building consent
- Detailed technical design and drawings to meet Building Regulations
- Tendering contractors
- Site support, monitoring and contract administration
Our research centres on sustainable construction reform, believing that solutions to the climate crisis require a discovery of new alternatives and the rediscovery of past methods.
We are familiar with low-carbon and natural materials, heritage crafts, reclamation, deconstruction, ‘green’ technologies and low-energy systems.
Our specialist knowledge in these subjects ensures all our projects work creatively and resourcefully within the planet’s limits.
Our projects are always collaborations: with clients, engineers, builders, researchers, makers, artists and gardeners.
We work through conversation with each expert to create artful spaces which are ambitious and well-made.
